So tonight we are anchored on the backside of Quiver Island with about 8 other loopers. This is a very sheltered area, hence a choice place to anchor for loopers. But let me back up a few days.
We left Heritage Harbor after a third night at that nice location. As I mentioned before, Sunday was cold and rainy, Monday the rain became a drizzle as we left that marina. We traveled without incident to Henry to an old lock wall. The wall, built in the 1880’s, was rugged as you can see in the picture, but it had lots of character. I really enjoyed this site despite the lack of facilities. The rain stopped and we were able to walk into town and eat at Grandma’s Bar & Grill. A highlight was running into another looper couple who we had met in Racine a few weeks earlier and sharing our adventures and stories.

The next morning we left about 8:30 headed towards Peoria, again without incident. The bald eagles we saw along the shore and flying overhead were majestic. I wish I had gotten a better picture to share with you….maybe next time. We arrived at our destination just south of Peoria, which was on the floating dock in front of Kuchies restaurant. Apparently this restaurant is known for their milkshakes, but they are closed on Monday & Tuesday so we couldn’t give a review on google on the milkshakes. This was a floating dock and free to use for the night. Nice to be able to save some money. The first time a tow went by our location it was terrifying as the whole dock was shaking and the boat was rocking. But as we became accustomed rocking of the docks due to the wakes of the tows, it was tolerable.

The next morning we joined a “gaggle” of loopers in the Peoria Lock which lowered our boats 8ft. It was a quick decent and then we were on our way to Quiver Island about 47 miles away. This is our second night without being connected to electricity. As I sit here writing this blog, it is pitch black outside and the crickets are singing. The only lights are the anchor lights from the other boats anchored with us and the the lights from the planes flying overhead. It is really dark!!! So as it’s dark….it is time for bed ( It’s also almost 8:30). Til next time….

Keeping you guys in our prayers for safety as you enjoy our Lords creation
