We are back on our boat after a 3 week stay on Grand Haven. Just to back up a little, we stayed overnight in Whitehall then traveled to Grand Haven the next day. We encountered the best travel conditions so far which made my day!!!
We arrived in Grand Haven, also referred to as Coast Guard City, on July 30. Our arrival coincided with the beginning of the Coast Guard Festival. This is a big deal for the city with many activities happening the duration of the festival–tours of coast guard ships, fireworks, food, craft sales, beach and walking the pier. The weather was warm and the channel was “swarming” with boats. It felt like we were the only boat headed inland as we made our way to the marina which would be “home” for the next 3 weeks.
During the 3 weeks, we took care of business at home and had a short visit from our kids. We even took a road trip to North Carolina for a family reunion. The mountains of North Carolina are beautiful.
Back to the present: Today is Sunday, August 21. We are back on the boat and plan to leave tomorrow for Holland for a 2 night stay. Our car was driven back to our house today, so now we are ready to leave…..ready or not. I feel a little apprehensive right now because we a committed to this journey and there many unknowns out there. I’ve been encouraged to look at each day as “just a day trip. My “what if….” have been mostly replaced by trust in my capable husband and knowing that if something unforeseen happens (and I’ve been told it will) we will be OK.
One last thing….my daughter was wearing a necklace the other day that had the engraved words “faith over fear”. That’s what I want for my loop/life journey.
With many adventures to come…Martha signing off

So great to see you in Holland today! God’s got you through the unknowns, my friend! So excited that you’re on your way, but know that you’ll be missed!
