Here we are in Ludington for a 2-night stay. This is a nice change of pace just to stay in one place and relax. The temperature is so much cooler than when we set out on this journey. Yesterday we walked the Main Street after dinner (at a local dive). More walks & bike ride today to enjoy this town.
When we left Leland the waves/wind were still on the higher side, but not too uncomfortable. Knowing that this Nordic Tug was built for the Inside Passage from Seattle to Alaska ( https://www.alaskasinsidepassage.com ) gives me assurance that we could continue safely.
I’ve learned a lot about the wind and waves on Lake Michigan since we began our trip. Saturday night there was a cluster of thunderstorms that came over the lake from Wisconsin. With it the winds were coming directly from the West causing the waves to come from the same direction. If we had traveled directly parallel to the shore, the waves would have been at our beam (hitting us broadside) and causing the boat to roll dramatically (not fun). So we tacked (zig-zag) our way to our next destination. This manner of traveling takes longer but is much more comfortable.
Our arrival in Frankfort was very much appreciated from the perspective of the calm waters after the craziness of Lake Michigan. That night we anchored out in the “bay” (second time for me). What a difference from being in a marina–no neighbors, no halyards slapping, no people….just us. Then there was the getting into the dingy to go to shore–just call me Grace (I apologize if your name is Grace). I also had to trust that the captain (Tim) had the anchor secure and we wouldn’t float away from said position. And guess what, our anchor held…..reminds me that our Anchor is more powerful than the one on our boat and He knows how I worry about things. I can trust HIM in everything.

Until next time–Martha signing off.
Hi Ti and Martha. Very interesting travelog. Most of our adventures will by land. We upgraded our RV, Moby Dick (1972 Travco) to Aireiel (a 2001 NewmarNewAire Classic). Like you, maintenance and more learning as she is a 29 foot diesel pusher. Safe travels and fair skies.
